sexuality: She is heterosexual, though rather laid back when it comes to romance. A few years back she was very much boy-crazy, though now she is much more mature and laid back about the whole subject.
appearance: Sakura is a little shorter than most girls her age, standing around five feet and three or four inches. Her body is also very well toned from several years of hard training, and over all is a very healthy looking girl. One of her most striking features is her light pink hair, which she refuses to reveal the nature of. Most would quickly assume that it's dyed, but since she never seems to have 'roots' showing one has to wonder. Her skin is a light peachy tone, which goes well with her bright green eyes. In her younger years she was rather uncomfortable with her self, including her oddly large forehead, but now has grown to be much more comfortable in her own skin.
She tends to wear a great mix of clothing, varying from what could be considered 'typical' pirate garb to rather foreign clothing which is common to her home. Some days she can be seen wearing trousers or breeches with a pair of sturdy boots, a loose shirt and a nice coat. On others she ops for a much more modern look, wearing t-shirts of tank tops with some leggings under a skirt and a pair of sandals. The only constant in her wardrobe seems to be gloves, which she likes to incorporate into lots of her outfits.
One rather odd item that she can be seen wearing at almost all times is a blue headband. There is a silvery piece of metal on it, with the image of a stylized leaf on it. She uses this to pull her hair back most of the time, keeping it out of the spotlight.
personality: Sakura comes off as a warm, mature person. Though at times the girl acts every inch like most teenagers, at times she can have an almost eerie air about her, more like a seasoned professional than a young green-horn. She is very caring, and has quite a lot of empathy for people. Not to say that she's a pushover, as she can become rather competitive and is a very determined person. A sense of humor is not wasted on her, as she's not afraid of a little joke now and then or even a bit of flirting. She also has a bit of a temper, which is best not to invoke as things tend to get broken when her wrath is incited.
Her approach to things are first are usually positive at first, choosing to be optimistic about things instead of immediately expecting the worse. But she knows when and when not to expect things, and really doesn't come off as the overly-cheery type. Not to mention that being raised as a ninja hasn't taught her to have the best outlook on life.
abilities/weaponry: Sakura's specialty is medical ninja skills, which is a lot more deadly than it sounds. For the last two and a half years she's been training under one of the three legendary Sannin, some of the most powerful ninjas to ever exist. Through this she has gained almost unparalleled control of her chakra(a rather mysterious source of power within the human body that started to appear in certain humans when the shift backward began); which she can use to give herself super-human strength. Knowing many other jutsus, the girl can do anything from cutting muscles without drawing a blade to walking on water. Though, true to her 'medical ninja' status, she also knows much in the way of healing. She can quickly make antidotes, repair heavy damage, or just do a little something to help with your bad back.
weaknesses: Despite all her training and skills, Sakura is still only human. A few good hits in and she's much less of a threat than before, or if you keep a fight going for long enough her stamina is bound to run down. She also has a rather nasty habit of letting her emotions get in the way, sometimes hesitating or even making rather stupid mistakes because of what's happening around her, or just because of who she's fighting.
history: Sakura was born into a world that had been progressing backwards for much longer than most places had. Very early on a large section of japan had cut themselves off from the rest of the country, then splitting up further into smaller ones. From there no one really knows exactly how it began to progress, but soon enough the small nations were making money by reviving the old ways of the shinobi and then preforming services with their skills for great sums of money. This quickly made the small ninja villages very wealthy and well respected, giving them room to further develop and hone the skills that made them prosper.
Konoha, the village of the hidden leaves, was probably the most well known and powerful of all the shinobi villages. Sakura was lucky enough to spend most of her childhood when the famous village was in a very peaceful state; the Third Hokage making sure they were all well protected, safe, on good terms with the other villages, and in a good state. He was doing a marvelous job, seeing as the community had been under the attack of one of the mythical tailed demons not long before. But that matter was quickly taken care of, and not spoken of very often.
Like most children, Sakura attended school for young shinobi. Though she excelled in the written exams, her actual skills were never really above normal. After graduating from the academy, she was put on a team of three to further her training. She happened to wind up with two very different boys; The class clown, Uzumaki Naruto, and the very aloof and very popular Uchiha Sasuke. After passing their initial exam on what could be considered a fluke, the three were under the tutelage of the infamous copy ninja, Hatake Kakashi. The team was a very odd one, having the habit of getting themselves into bigger missions than they were supposed to be doing at their lowly genin level. Still, Naruto and Sasuke managed to make great progress with their skills, putting their all into training and getting stronger. Sakura, on the other hand, seemed more content to simply sit back at watch.
That changed when Kakashi entered his team into the Chuunin exams. The three past the initial tests, and were then able to move on to the second part of the test. They were sent out in a deadly forest with the other teams, ordered to collect two scrolls (one which would have to be stolen from one of their competitors), and then head to the center of the woods for the next part of the test. Things were going well enough for the trio- until they ran into Orochimaru.
An S-Rank criminal and enemy of Konoha, the much higher ranked shinobi was only interested in the young Uchiha heir. Placing his 'cursed' seal on the boy to show him the power that he could gain if Sasuke would join him, the snake summoner sunk back into the shadows for a time. This entire experience roused something in Sakura, seeing as she had to protect the two boys in an attack as they were both unconscious from earlier battles. She had realized that she was tired of being left behind, feeling powerless as her teammates bravely defended her against attackers while she sat back and did nothing for them.
This grew as more challenges began to arise; reaching it's apex as the village came under attack from Orochimaru and the Sand Ninjas. Not long afterward Sasuke decided to go with Orochimaru to gain the power needed to avenge his slain clan. Desperate to stop him from leaving, Sakura did everything she could to stop him. Telling him she loved him, offering to help avenge his family, and even asking if she could accompany him, just so he wouldn't be alone. In the end Sasuke simply couldn't handle her feelings, and giving words of gratitude, left anyway.
Finally fed up with being left behind, Sakura pleaded with the new Hokage, Tsunade, to help her further her training. Seeing true determination in the girl, the Sannin agreed.
Nearly three years later, Sakura was nearly done with her training. Becoming concerned with the state of her other teammate, Naruto (Who had gone off to train with Jiraiya at the same time she had begun training with Tsunade), the girl set off to find him. Traveling well out of the borders of the Fire Country; the young Chuunin finally reached the sea. Taking a ship to another port, she decided the best way to start looking around was to sign on to a ship. But seeing as most normal ships would not take her, she had to dig a little deeper to find an employer.
